Zozan Shrine 【Registered Tangible Cultural Property】
The shrine was built in 1938 to enshrine Zozan Sakuma. He was an intellegent
person who had acquired the knowledge and skills of liturature, matrial
arts, gunnery, medicine, and science. He opened his own private school
in Edo, and taught many important people related to the Meiji Restoration.
Because of his many accomplishments, this shrine is worshiped as “The God
of Wisdom” or “The God of Learning” and people visit here to pray for their
successful school admission.
